Exactly what we wanted

"I wanted a jacket with some warmth that is actually waterproof for PNW weather, and this is just what we wanted. The quality is good and the design is very cute. I got the size 5 even though I would normally buy an 8 for my daughter because it was the only size in stock. It fits her nicely and will last at least for this year."

Awful build quality

"Maybe it's just the rainbow striped variant, but this was a terrible rain jacket. The first one we got, the hood was attached to the inner lining incorrectly, meaning we couldn't even get the hood up onto our kid's head. Thankfully the process to get a new one was quick and simple. The second one we got seemed to be manufactured "correctly", but the hood simply lacked enough material to go over the head and protect the forehead/face from rain. After 10 minutes in the rain, our kid's face and forehead and bangs were completely soaked. They loved it, but it was also only 10 minutes in the rain and it wasn't windy or freezing out. This definitely wouldn't be my pick of rain jacket when it's actually raining. When we went inside, we hung up the jacket to dry and noticed that the inner lining, along the entire seam where the bottom of the hood meets the top part of the jacket body, was absolutely soaked. So however they attached the hood obviously ruined the water repellent nature of the jacket at that seam. And this was only 10 minutes in the rain. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if we were outside for any longer. The final straw was that after a couple hours of hang-drying it was almost just as wet as it was when we first came inside. My rain jacket and my spouse's rain jacket were both fully dry, and while I don't necessarily expect that after just a couple hours of hanging up in a relatively cool location, the fact that it didn't seem to be shedding any water at all was worrisome. What's crazy is that we also got the trail pants and neoprene-lined boots, and those worked fantastically. So clearly they know how to build waterproof clothing for kids. But the rain jacket is just not it. Total fail."

Don’t second guess sizing up!

"This rain jacket is so fantastic! Kiddo is almost 6 years old, 43 1/2 inches, 38 pounds… We did have to exchange because I foolishly ordered size 5, which was almost big enough for me, an extra small adult woman. The size 4 we now have will definitely last a second winter in our rainy climate. We did need to exchange the first size 4 we received… It had bad seams on a sleeve, and, more importantly, on the hood… The bad seam on the hood rim actually created a dent that worked like a little funnel, sending a waterfall into kiddos eyes. OAKI handled both exchanges very well, although customers should be aware that customer service is only available via email. Ultimately, we absolutely love the jacket rain boot combo and hope OAKI is still around the next time we need such gear."
